Tired of seeing the same standard black, grey or white phones? Huawei’s budget brand Honor has just the distraction you need. The company is offering a flaming red version of its Honor 8X smartphone, which was unveiled earlier this month.

The new color option is currently available for purchase via Vmall.com in exchange for 1399 yuan (about $200, or INR 15,000). It’s also available in a shiny Black and Blue option if you prefer something less bright.

In case you don’t remember, let us remind you, the Honor 8X comes with a huge 6.5-inch display, which tops even the Galaxy Note 9’s massive 6.4-inch one.

The front panel offers FHD+ resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. Obviously, it also features a notch. Love it or hate, the notch doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon and is actually making its way into budget devices such as the Honor 8X.

When it comes to internal specs, the Honor 8X relies on a 2.2GHz Kirin 710 processor. The red version is available for purchase in three RAM/storage configurations: 4/64GB, 6/64GB, and 6/128GB.

Customers buying Honor’s new phone will also get a dual 20MP+2MP main camera and a 16MP selfie camera. Whether all shades will be sold globally is still unknown, but the phone should be available at a shop near you before the end of this month, including the U.S.

Android 9 Pie

The Honor 8X ships with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Sure, it is eligible for the Android Pie update, but it may take more time than you might like.

Huawei is testing Android Pie for its flagship phones in mid- to top-segment, rolling out the beta 2 only a few days ago. Once Huawei starts rolling out the stable Android 9 OTA for its flagship devices like P20, Honor Play, Mate 10, etc. the likes of Honor 8X would be the next. And all fo this could take us to Q1 2019 by the time Huawei releases Android Pie for Honor 8X.
