Huawei’s Honor 7X is one of the most popular phones in the budget segment and it’s for good reasons. At its price, the phone brings quite a lot to the table. A premium-like glass and metal body that houses a 5.93-inch 18:9 1080p display screen, a Kirin 659 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB expandable storage, a dual 16MP camera on the back and a decent 3340mAh battery unit, all at just $200.

Being a late 2017 budget phone, the Honor 7X has Android Nougat out of the box, but Huawei has since updated it to Android 8.0 Oreo. Naturally, owners of this device are now asking questions about the status of Android 9 Pie update. And this article has some answers for you, but not an official communication from Huawei.

Honor 7X is not eligible for Android 9 Pie update

The Honor 7X is not eligible for Android 9 Pie update for obvious reasons: it’s a budget phone and typically, phones in this category, especially from Huawei, get only one major OS upgrade. Also, looking back at the Honor 6X and even the Honor 5X before it, all received one major OS upgrade and that was it.
