Start at Ambergris Key, grab the treasure map through the underwater cavern, then travel to Misteriosa for the dig site.

Fast travel or sail to the bottom-left area of the world map, near Ambergris Key.

After docking, look up for the rocks and the stone building along the coast.

Dive from this coastline spot, using the nearby jellyfish as your first marker.

Keep moving toward the jellyfish, because they point you toward the underwater cave entrance.

The large ship mast in the water is your next landmark before the cave route continues.

Stay on the cave route until you reach the ruins, then loot the treasure map from the corpse in the hidden ruin area.

Dig up the Misteriosa buried chest
Once you reach Misteriosa, do not search the lower beaches randomly. The buried chest is tied to the ruin path above the coast, near the temple/fountain area rather than out in the open sand.
Start from the coastline where you can see the waterfall and the bent palm tree. Take the left-side path up from the river and keep climbing toward the ruins until the scenery changes into the temple area at the top.
Use the waterfall, bent palm tree, and top-level fountain as your real markers; the coordinates vary slightly, but those landmarks lead you straight to the dig prompt.
Heavy Shot Strength Ultimate Plan reward
The buried chest gives you the Heavy Shot Strength Ultimate Plan, with 3,000 Reales also found in the chest in current runs. After that, the plan unlocks the final Heavy Shot Strength upgrade path for the Jackdaw.
This upgrade affects Heavy Shot, the close-range broadside ammo used to hit enemy ships hard at short distance. You still need to buy the upgrade from the ship upgrade menu after getting the plan.
Heavy Shot Strength is not Heavy Shot Storage
Do not mix this up with the Heavy Shot Storage Ultimate Plan. Heavy Shot Strength uses the Ambergris Key map and Misteriosa chest; Heavy Shot Storage uses a different treasure map and a different buried chest location.
