Where Horsetail plants grow

You don’t need exact coordinates; once you’re swimming in that part of the pond, the tall green stalks stand out clearly against the pond bed.
Keep in mind this is a genuine underwater area, not a shallow puddle. The pond opens into a large, layered space with real verticality and new predators sharing the water, so treat a Horsetail run like a proper dive — go in with your oxygen topped up and something to defend yourself rather than paddling in unprepared.

What Horsetail Stem is used for
Horsetail Stem is the pond’s answer to weed stems. The old surface building materials don’t carry the new underwater loop, so Horsetail fills the weed-stem role for underwater scaffolding and structures — if you’re planning a submerged base or outpost down in the pond, this is the material you’ll be farming in bulk.
The A Gift Horse quest reward
Key Harvesting these also ties into an early pond objective. Cutting Horsetails progresses a Harvest: Horsetail Stem goal, and hitting five stems completes the A Gift Horse quest for 850 Raw Science. Since each plant gives three, two Horsetails is enough to clear that count with one to spare.
