How to Find Lares: Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Enter the New Camp with Mordrag
Speak to Thorus in the Old Camp to get the “Out of Sight” quest, then ask Mordrag about his messenger work. He will escort you to the New Camp and give you Mordrag’s Ring. This ring lets you pass guards along the way.
Step 2: Pass the Rice Fields Entrance
From Mordrag’s drop-off point, pass the first entrance leading to the rice fields.
Then go upward to the second entrance guarded by mercenaries.
Step 3: Cross the Dam to the Large Cavern
Cross the dam where you’ll find Homer.
You’ll see the tavern on your right and a large cavern ahead with many houses. This cavern is the heart of the New Camp.
Step 4: Turn Left and Go Upper Level
Inside the large cavern, turn left and reach the upper level. In front of you, you’ll see Baal Kagan with two thieves and Sharky the merchant.
Step 5: Find Roscoe at Lares’s House
On Sharky’s left, you’ll see two thieves guarding a house. One will tell you you can’t pass.
Answer that you want to see Lares. Talk to Roscoe (Lares’s bodyguard).
And tell him you want to join the camp or have a ring for Lares.
Step 6: Enter the House and Meet Lares
Enter the house and you’ll find Lares behind the table.
When you enter, he automatically talks to you and is impressed if you have Mordrag’s Ring. You can now talk to him to join the camp.
Critical Mistakes to Avoid

Don’t skip getting Mordrag’s Ring – Without it, guards may stop you (though you can still get inside)

Don’t talk to Lares before Level 5 – He won’t let you join until you reach at least level 5

Don’t forget to complete 3 quests – You need to complete at least 3 of 5 major Lares tasks to earn his trust

Watch your back near guards – Some thieves like Lefty can attack you if you’re not careful.
Quick Quest Requirements to Join New Camp
To officially join after meeting Lares:
Basically, when you enter the cave, go all the way to the left – he’s literally at the edge of the left side of the cave, behind and above the left row of houses. Inside his house, he sits behind the table.
