Update [April 13, 2017]: The latest update to Gmail lets the non-Gmail addresses mark messages as spam. The important feature was missing for the non-Gmail addresses until now. But not now. In case you didn’t know, you can add both Gmail and non-Gmail accounts to the Gmail app for Android.
Also, recently they added the support for GIFs using Google’s own keyboard, Gboard.
Update [March 03, 2017]: Now, you can tap and hold Gmail app’s icon to do stuff, too, which is particularly useful if you happen to be running Android 7.1 or higher build on your Android device.
Google just updated its Gmail app to support the 7.1’s ‘long press the icon’ feature, which would now allow you to quick compose a message, or open a Gmail account (if you have added multiple accounts, it’s a dream feature!) pretty damn quickly. Moreover, you can drag and drop the account ID (shows up once you long press Gmail app icon) to create a shortcut of the said ID on your Home screen easily.

To use this feature, you need to be on Android 7.1 or higher OS version, a requirement that not many Android users tick right now, but definitely except some OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users, thanks to yesterday’s update. Otherwise, mostly only Pixel and Nexus 2016 (6P and 5X) users benefit from this feature.
Apart from that, exchange users can now view, create, or edit tasks in their Exchange account.
