Flame Captain Yamamoto is a raid-grind unit, so the work is less about finding a hidden menu and more about clearing the right stage enough times. Once you know the Act 5 route, the rest of the process is a straight loop: farm the unit, farm the evolution material, then evolve him.

Fast route to Flame Captain Yamamoto

Flame Captain comes from Reaper City Raid rewards, not from the regular summon banner. The unlock and the evolution are separate grinds, but both point you back to Reaper City Raid Act 5.

Treat the base unit as phase one and the evolution item as phase two. You can get lucky early, but the route is built around repeat clears.

Clear the earlier Reaper City Raid acts so the Flame Captain farm stage is open.

Run Reaper City Raid Act 5

Finish the raid and check the completion reward after the clear.

Repeat completed clears

Keep farming the same act until Flame Captain Yamamoto drops.

Let pity finish the grind

If random drops miss, the unit is added after 30 completed Act 5 runs.

The Act 5 farm is a low-rate loop: finish the raid, collect the completion reward, and run it again until the unit appears. The current working numbers are a 5% unit drop rate and 30 completed Act 5 runs for pity; if an in-game pity counter shows a different value after an update, follow the counter.

Finish the raid

Only completed runs can roll Flame Captain or build pity.

Evolve Flame Captain into Flame Captain (Ember)

To evolve him, you need one Flame Captain Yamamoto and the evolution material shown for him in Evolutions. The current working numbers for the Act 5 evolution item are a 5% drop rate and 20 completed Act 5 runs for pity; the material list can also include Ashen Sword, which comes from the Soul Reaper Raid Shop for 300 Reaper Badges.

Use the Evolutions screen as your shopping list before spending badges. Once the required materials are present, press Evolve! and the unit upgrades into Flame Captain (Ember).

Reaper City Raid Act 5 is tougher than standard Story stages, so build your team around stable wave clear instead of barely surviving the end. Strong AoE damage matters because the later raid waves punish slow single-target setups.

Upgrade your core units before starting long pity sessions. A slightly slower clear that finishes every time is better than a faster setup that collapses near the last waves.

If Act 5 is still wiping your team, farm upgrades first and return when your damage, range, and cooldowns feel comfortable. The goal is not one clear; it is enough repeat clears to get the unit and the evolution resources.

Using Flame Captain and Flame Captain (Ember)

Flame Captain, modeled on Genryusai Yamamoto from Bleach, is a Secret-rarity Ground unit built around steady burn damage and a 1,400 Yen placement cost. He is not cheap early filler; he is a damage-over-time unit you build around once placed.

Flame Captain (Ember) is the reason to finish the evolution grind. The evolved form adds a stronger kit with extra passives and an active ability for higher-level battles, after which your next upgrades are gear, stats, and Reaper Badge farming.
