SK hynix today announced a new RAM module that comes with a capacity of as much as 8GB. It has been long rumored that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 would feature 8GB of RAM, and today’s announcement by SK hynix would only help with that.
SK hynix did put out some numbers regarding the 8GB RAM to impress you. Their 8GB RAM module is absed on LPDDR4X tech, acronym for Lo Power Double Data Rate 4X, which features density of 8GB and is 20% better of performance than LPDDR4 type RAM.
The new 8GB LPDDR4X RAM is also efficient on space, as it needs 30% less space inside smartphone’s body, at measurements of 12 x 12.7 x 1mm. If Samsung wanted to shrink width of Galaxy S8 — which is almost confirmed for mid-April launch, while some units could be out in March or even February — this is their best choice among RAM modules.
