A new update is rolling out to the Huawei Maimang 6 and with it comes software build number B178, which installs the trending Face Unlock feature, bug fixes and improves the general system performance and stability.
The Face Unlock feature has been rolling out to a handful of phones as a software update, among them Honor 7X, Honor View 10, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3 and 3T and it has also been promised for Honor 9 Lite users. The Maimang 6, which goes by the names of Mate 10 Lite, Nova 2i, G10 and Honor 9i in markets outside China, becomes the latest to join the party thanks to this new update, which is already rolling out over the air.
Besides adding the Face Unlock feature, the update also optimizes camera performance in low-light conditions and fixes an issue related to overexposure when taking selfies. We are not sure if a new Android security patch is also part of the update, so feel free to confirm if this is the case in the comments below.

As noted, this is an OTA update and like any other, it’ll take some time before all Huawei Maimang 6 handsets get the prompt to download it. Also, keep in mind that this update is currently rolling out in China, but it shouldn’t be long before the Mate 9 Lite, Honor 9i, Nova 2i and Huawei G10-specific versions roll out.
