Everything OpenAI Launched at DevDay 2026, and What Free, Go and Plus Users Actually Get

OpenAI’s recap of DevDay 2026, held on September 29, 2026, lists 25 announcements. They span ChatGPT, Codex, the API and a new kind of always-on agent called dots. Most of the headline launches need a Pro or business plan. Free and Go users get a shorter list, mostly aimed at developers and plugin makers.

What Free and Go users get from DevDay 2026

Seven of the 25 launches reach the free and low-cost plans. None of them is a new model: GPT-6.1 Sol is not included on Free or Go at launch, according to OpenAI’s model documentation.

What ChatGPT Plus adds

Plus gets the new model and the cloud version of Codex. The GPT-6.1 Sol launch post says the model is available to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and “not yet available in Chat”. Plus subscribers can also spend their plan’s Work and Codex usage in apps such as Devin, Notion and Vercel, with a weekly cap they set per app.

Codex in the cloud runs coding tasks from a reusable environment, so work keeps going while your computer is asleep. It is available on Plus, Pro, Business, Healthcare, Education and Enterprise.

What ChatGPT Pro adds, and what’s only on Pro 500

Every Pro tier, including Pro 100, gets a dot for users over 18 in eligible markets. OpenAI’s help center lists the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK as excluded for Pro at launch. Your first dot costs nothing extra, and conversations with it don’t count toward your ChatGPT usage limits. OpenAI’s help center adds that dots usage won’t count against Pro, Business and Enterprise allowances for the first month; tasks a dot starts in Codex or ChatGPT Work count as usual.

Pro also gets ChatGPT Space, which replaces Library, along with shared Pages, the Meetings plugin (a beta for the macOS desktop app) and Codex Security Cloud. Collaborative slides are due “in the coming weeks”.

Pro 500, the new $500-a-month tier, adds two things no other personal plan has: Ultrafast, which generates GPT-6 Astra tokens up to 8x faster in Codex while using included usage at 8 times the Standard rate, and the Agents API with computer use inside Codex and ChatGPT Work. What Business and Enterprise get

The team features need a workspace plan. Business and Enterprise can create teams that share pages and run scheduled team tasks, mention @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams, and add plugins to the Sites they build. Businesses can contact OpenAI about Private Intelligence, its data-protection offer, and eligible enterprise customers can register interest in the OpenAI Marketplace, which puts part of an existing OpenAI commitment toward approved products from 32 partners.

Dots reach Business Premium in all supported regions. On Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare they are a beta that stays off until an admin turns it on.

What developers get in the API

GPT-6.1 Sol is in the API as gpt-6.1-sol at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, for prompts up to 272K tokens. GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is in the API too, at six times the standard price. The Agents API gained computer use, and the new Decisions API, which uses Luna for fast multiple-choice decisions, is in limited preview. Amazon’s Bedrock Managed Agents now runs OpenAI agents inside AWS.

OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux (Tibo) said token traffic on the Responses API is up 100x on a year ago.

OpenAI’s recap lists 25 announcements across ChatGPT, Codex and the API, and most of them name the plans they reach.

OpenAI’s help pages say DevDay features are rolling out gradually and some may not be on your account yet. Tibo said “almost all” of the announcements would be available the same day.

What’s still coming after launch day

A handful of items have a later date attached. OpenAI gives rough windows rather than exact days for most of them.

OpenAI also says it will share per-plan usage terms for dots after their first month.

FAQs

Is GPT-6.1 Sol in regular ChatGPT chat?

Not yet. It’s in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro and Business, for Enterprise and Edu once an admin turns it on, and in the API. OpenAI’s launch post says it is “not yet available in Chat”.

Do Free and Go users get dots?

No. Dots start with Pro, Business Premium and an admin-enabled Enterprise beta. OpenAI says it plans to expand dots to more users soon but hasn’t given a date.

Can Go users use Sign in with ChatGPT?

They can sign in to participating apps. Letting an app draw on your plan’s usage is limited to Plus and Pro.

When do collaborative slides arrive?

OpenAI says “in the coming weeks” for Pro, Business and Enterprise. Decks can be presented in ChatGPT or exported to PowerPoint or Google Slides.
