Motorola recently released a list which gave us the schedule of when their devices would be getting an update to the next major Android version (and also which devices would never get an update), and the DROID XYBOARD 8.2 was mentioned on the list as getting the update to Android 4.0.4 in Q4. Q4 starts in just a couple of days, and it seems the Xyboard may get the update at the very beginning of Q4, as its Ice Cream Sandwich update has been approved by Verizon.
Approval from Verizon means that the update will start rolling out really soon, so Xyboard 8.2 owners will be getting a nice treat in the very near future. The update will carry the software version 12.11.31.MZ609, and along with the usual features of Android 4.0, it will bring the following changes:
- Includes the latest Motorola USB driver to allow Xyboard to connect to a computer to transfer files.
- Securely refresh your Corporate Email account with the native email client.
- Faster Browsing Experience
- Improved network connectivity
So there you go guys. Ice Cream Sandwich is almost here for the Xyboard 8.2, and we’ll let you know when the update actually starts rolling out.
