The Nexus 4 is landing on the Play Store tomorrow, and users in Germany may even know exactly when, as per a leaked report. Google took a revolutionary step by keeping the pricing for the Nexus 4 as low as $299. For the kind of hardware that this thing packs, and not to mention the latest Android 4.2 OS that will debut on it, that price has got be hard to beat.
Unfortunately though, the $299 tag is only applicable to devices purchased from the Play Store. And we all know that the option to purchase devices from the Play Store is only available in select geographies as of now. The rest will not be so lucky as to avail of this fantastic pricing, as retailers cash in on the hype. Only option left for these countries then is to either import it through someone they know in the lucky areas, or wait for local prices to drop, which might take a while.
If you’re opting for the latter though, viz. hoping for a price drop while you bide your time, you can go ahead and get some Nexus like goodness on your existing device. The LG Nexus 4 back is covered by glass, with a really cool design underneath, which LG calls Crystal Reflection. It appears to be many dots arranged together, and gives a matrix-like effect when looked at from different angles die to the reflection of light. Really cool stuff.
Developer Wasabi, who has released many cool live wallpapers on the Play Store, has now come up with a Live Wallpaper which replicates the crystal reflection effect from the Nexus 4 back panel. Once installed, you can control the size of the dots, as well as the speed of the animation. On a decent display, it looks awesome, in fact a lot better than the default Live Wallpapers available on most Android phones.
