What to know
- The Relics of the Past Triumph requires you to find and use the Solar Scythe in The Ghosts mission on Savathûn’s Throne World.
- The Solar Scythe does not appear automatically; you must destroy three hidden glowing crystals in the final boss arena.
- After all three crystals are destroyed, the relic spawns in the center of the arena.
- Defeat combatants with the Scythe and finish the mission to complete the Triumph.
Destiny 2’s Monument of Triumph update introduced several new Triumphs, including Relics of the Past, which sends Guardians back into The Witch Queen campaign mission “The Ghosts.” While the objective sounds simple, many players miss the hidden Solar Scythe because the game never directly explains how to spawn it.

Where the Solar Scythe is located
The Solar Scythe can only be obtained during the final encounter of The Ghosts mission inside the Temple of the Wrathful. Once you reach the boss arena, look around the outer sections of the room for three glowing crystals suspended above the battlefield.

These crystals are spread around the arena and can be destroyed in any order. Enemy waves will continue spawning while you search, so clearing nearby threats first can make the process easier.
How to complete Relics of the Past
Step #1
Open the Director and travel to Savathûn’s Throne World.
Launch The Ghosts mission from the campaign node. Normal difficulty is sufficient for the Triumph.

Step #2
Progress through the mission normally until you reach the final boss arena inside the Temple of the Wrathful.
Do not defeat the boss immediately.

Step #3
Search the arena for three glowing crystals hanging around the room.
Shoot and destroy each crystal. They are positioned around the outer portions of the arena and can be easy to overlook during combat.

Step #4
After destroying the third crystal, watch the center of the arena.
A glowing orange energy pool appears and the Solar Scythe relic materializes above it.

Step #5
Pick up the Solar Scythe.
Use its melee slashes and heavy attacks to eliminate enemies throughout the encounter. Continue defeating combatants until the Triumph objective updates.

Step #6
Finish the boss encounter and complete The Ghosts mission.
Once the mission ends, the Relics of the Past Triumph should unlock if you defeated enough enemies with the Scythe during the run.

Why the Triumph doesn’t complete for some players

The most common issue is defeating the boss too quickly before earning enough Scythe kills. If the Triumph fails to complete, restart the mission and spend more time defeating enemy waves with the relic before finishing the encounter.
Another common mistake is missing one of the three crystals, which prevents the Solar Scythe from spawning entirely.
Relics of the Past is one of the easier Monument of Triumph objectives once you know the hidden mechanic. Simply reach the final arena in The Ghosts, destroy all three crystals to spawn the Solar Scythe, defeat enemies with the relic, and finish the mission. With the Scythe’s powerful Solar attacks, earning the required kills takes only a few minutes and will secure another Triumph toward your collection.
