Quick overview of the Monument of Triumph update

How Titans can now move Ward of Dawn

One of the biggest surprises in the trailer is a complete reimagining of the classic Void Titan super, Ward of Dawn.

Traditionally, Ward of Dawn creates a stationary protective bubble. The new version appears to allow Titans to physically pick up the bubble and relocate it around the battlefield. Trailer footage also shows a powerful gravitational pull effect that drags nearby enemies toward the moving Ward of Dawn.

This change could significantly improve the super’s usefulness during encounters that require frequent movement. Instead of abandoning a defensive position, Titans may be able to bring protection directly to teammates as objectives shift throughout a fight.

Ward of Dawn ChangeImpact
Bubble RelocationIncreased mobility
Enemy Pull EffectBetter crowd control
Mobile DefenseMore flexibility in PvE
Team UtilityEasier support positioning

How the Soul Siphon Void Aspect works

Warlocks are receiving a new Void Aspect called Soul Siphon.

Based on trailer footage, Soul Siphon creates a tether-like connection between the player and enemies. The ability continuously drains health or energy from affected targets while simultaneously granting benefits back to the Warlock.

Void SynergySupports ability-focused builds

The aspect appears designed around aggressive Void gameplay, rewarding players for maintaining pressure rather than remaining at long range.

How Hunter Phantom Surge changes melee combat

Hunters are gaining Phantom Surge, a highly mobile melee ability.

The ability functions as a rapid dash attack that slices through enemies while traveling forward. During gameplay footage, the Hunter appears to gain an overshield immediately after connecting with targets.

This combination of mobility, damage, and defense could make Phantom Surge particularly effective in close-range encounters.

How the new grenades expand subclass options

The trailer also revealed two entirely new grenade types.

Stasis Shatter Grenade

The Shatter Grenade appears to stick directly onto surfaces or enemies before freezing targets in place. This gives Stasis users another method of crowd control and setup for shatter damage combinations.

Strand Slice Wire Grenade

The Slice Wire Grenade creates a Strand-based effect that releases multiple thread-like projectiles after deployment. These threads appear capable of tracking enemies and applying additional pressure across groups of targets.

How the new armor archetypes work

Bungie is introducing six armor archetypes to create more meaningful build decisions.

Although not every archetype has been fully revealed, examples shown include Sieger, Skirmisher, and Demolitionist.

The goal appears to be making armor choices matter beyond simple stat totals by emphasizing specific playstyles.

Known ArchetypeLikely Focus
SiegerObjective control
SkirmisherMobility and combat
DemolitionistExplosive and ability play
Additional ArchetypesYet to be fully revealed

These archetypes should give players clearer paths toward specialized builds without relying entirely on random stat distributions.

Why Exotic armor is getting stronger

One of the most player-friendly announcements concerns Exotic armor.

All existing Exotic armor pieces will be upgraded retroactively to Tier 5 stats. Players will not need to reacquire their favorite Exotics after the update.

Additionally, all Exotics will gain compatibility with every Tune-In mod, significantly increasing customization opportunities.

What the new armor set bonuses offer

Several older armor sets are also receiving unique utility bonuses.

The trailer highlighted the Exodus Down armor set, which grants healing and damage reduction whenever an armor charge is broken.

This reflects Bungie’s broader effort to make armor sets more meaningful rather than purely cosmetic collections.

Future sets are expected to provide similarly distinctive effects that reward completing and using themed gear combinations.

Exploring the Monument of Triumph Tower

The Tower itself is undergoing a dramatic transformation for the event.

The trailer showcases decorations celebrating Destiny’s history alongside several nostalgic references to the original Destiny. One of the most notable appearances is a recreation of the Speaker’s room, a location many veteran Guardians will instantly recognize.

These additions reinforce Monument of Triumph’s role as a celebration of the franchise’s legacy while giving players new areas to explore.

The mysterious Exotic Hand Cannon

Sharp-eyed viewers also spotted a previously unseen Exotic Hand Cannon.

While Bungie has not revealed its name or perks, the weapon appears prominently in trailer footage and is widely expected to be tied to the Monument of Triumph reward track or upcoming seasonal content.

Given Destiny’s history with Exotic Hand Cannons, anticipation is already high among the community.

The Monument of Triumph update appears to be much more than a simple celebration event. The combination of mobile supers, new subclass abilities, grenade options, armor archetypes, retroactive Exotic upgrades, and Tower improvements points toward one of the most substantial sandbox updates Destiny 2 has received in years.

Players can expect significantly more build diversity, stronger customization systems, and entirely new ways to approach both endgame PvE and competitive PvP content.
