The short version
- Claude Dashboards turns questions about connected data into dashboards with charts.
- Claude Motion turns content into short animations made from code.
- Both are saved as artifacts in Claude.
- Both features are in beta. Dashboards supports more plans than Motion.
Claude Dashboards helps you explore data by asking questions in ordinary language. Claude Motion makes animated explainers, charts, and walkthroughs from content you provide. Both are available through Claude, but they produce different kinds of artifacts.
What are Claude Dashboards?
Claude Dashboards is a tool for building dashboards from data you have connected to Claude. You ask a question, and Claude writes and runs a SQL query for each chart. The resulting dashboard can help you explore questions such as how signups changed over time or how opportunities are distributed across sales stages.
Each chart lets you open its query and see when its data was last refreshed. You can ask Claude to change a chart, add a filter, or adjust what the query counts. Dashboards start private, can be shared with Share, and are saved in the Artifacts tab.
What is Claude Motion?
Claude Motion makes short animations from a prompt and content you provide. Claude creates code that animates text, charts, shapes, and images. You can use it for an explainer, an animated chart, or a product walkthrough.
You can ask Claude to revise a word, number, scene, or timing, or make changes directly in the editor. Animations are saved in the Artifacts tab. They start private, and you can share them with Share or export them as MP4 files.
How are Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion different?
Dashboards helps you examine connected data; Motion helps you present content as an animation.
What each feature produces
| Feature | What you provide | What Claude makes | How you revise it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashboards | A question about a connected data source | A dashboard with a SQL query for each chart | Ask for changes or inspect a chart’s query |
| Motion | A prompt, with content such as a report, data, or images | A code-based animation that plays like a short video | Ask for changes or edit it directly |
Choose Dashboards when you need to explore what your data counts. Choose Motion when you need an animation for an audience. Motion can export an MP4; Dashboards lets you inspect the query behind each chart.
How do I create a Claude Dashboards dashboard?
Connect the data you want to examine, then ask Claude for a dashboard in a chat or start from the Dashboards template in Artifacts. Naming the table or app that holds your data can help Claude use the right source.
Create one in a chat
- Connect your data warehouse or another app to Claude.
- Ask Claude a question about that data and request a dashboard. You can also select Output in the message box and choose Dashboards.
- Open a chart’s query to check what it counts. Ask Claude for changes if you need a different filter or view.
Create one from Artifacts
- Open the Artifacts tab.
- Select a Dashboards template.
- Describe the dashboard you want.
How do I create a Claude Motion animation?
Ask Claude for an animation in a chat or select a Motion template from Artifacts. Describe the audience, where the animation will play, and roughly how long it should be. You can attach the report, data, or images you want it to use.

Where can I use Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion?
Both features are available in beta through Claude, with access determined by your plan. They count toward your plan’s usage limits. Longer or more complex Motion animations use more of that limit than a typical message.
