Several of OpenAI’s DevDay announcements on September 29, 2026 are for workplaces, and most are limited to Business and Enterprise plans. Workspaces can now build teams with shared, scheduled team tasks, call @ChatGPT inside Slack and Microsoft Teams, and put plugins into the Sites they build. Eligible enterprise customers can also register interest in an OpenAI Marketplace that applies part of their existing OpenAI commitment to approved partner software, and OpenAI announced Private Intelligence, a data-protection offer for businesses.

Teams and team tasks in ChatGPT
A team is a group of colleagues inside a ChatGPT workspace. OpenAI’s recap says teams share pages, slides, plugins and spreadsheets, though its Space page still lists collaborative slides and spreadsheets as coming soon. Members with task permission can hand recurring work to team tasks, which run in the cloud on a schedule or on a supported event, such as a new email or Slack message. OpenAI’s admin guide gives examples like a Monday summary of last week’s customer updates, or an onboarding brief prepared when a deal closes.

Admins control who can create teams and manage team tasks through two workspace permissions. Team membership is separate from workspace groups and from Slack or Teams channels, and can’t be synced with them. One detail to check before sharing: a workspace connection can reach data that some members couldn’t open with their own accounts.
@ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams
You can now mention @ChatGPT in a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel, thread or direct message to get help with the team’s work. It can use tools your admin has connected, or your own tools with your permissions, and it asks for your approval before taking action in a connected tool. Teammates in an enabled channel can add context and refine the answer without needing their own ChatGPT license. OpenAI’s recap lists the feature for Business and Enterprise; its feature page adds Edu. Either way, an admin has to set it up for your Slack workspace or Teams tenant.
Dots, OpenAI’s new always-on agents, also work in Slack and Teams. Business Premium includes a dot, and Enterprise can switch on a dots beta.
Plugins in Sites: pages that show each visitor’s own data
Sites, ChatGPT’s public-beta tool for building hosted websites and tools, can now use supported plugins on Business, Enterprise, Healthcare and Edu plans. A Site built this way reads data from each visitor’s own connected apps. OpenAI’s example is an issue dashboard that shows you your assigned issues and shows a teammate theirs.
Plugins in Sites only work on a Site that’s private to a workspace with the feature switched on. Each visitor signs in with ChatGPT and chooses which connected accounts and access to allow; sharing the Site doesn’t share your own connections. Writing back to an app needs write access set up, the visitor’s consent and an explicit action.
OpenAI Marketplace and Private Intelligence
The OpenAI Marketplace lets eligible enterprise customers put part of an existing OpenAI commitment toward approved partner software. You contract with and pay the partner directly, and OpenAI reconciles the commitment. Eligibility depends on your OpenAI agreement, the partner product and the program’s terms, and not every product from a listed partner qualifies.

OpenAI’s recap groups 12 of the 32 partners by area; the other 20 appear only on the Marketplace page. Enterprise customers can register interest now, and other companies can join a waitlist to become partners.
Private Intelligence is meant to help businesses use frontier AI with greater confidence that their data is protected. It pairs Zero Data Retention with Private Safety Processing, which runs automated safety reviews without giving OpenAI staff access to the content. A preview of Private Inference, which adds confidential computing, is due this fall. OpenAI asks businesses to contact it about Private Intelligence, and API organizations already approved for Zero Data Retention can set up Private Safety Processing directly in the API console.

Do Slack users need a ChatGPT seat to use @ChatGPT?
Not to join in. OpenAI says team members without an individual ChatGPT license can use @ChatGPT in enabled channels, depending on how your organization has set it up.
Can a team task run without anyone logged in?
Yes, it runs in the cloud on the team’s service account. It can’t complete a new app sign-in on its own, though, and approval rules still apply.
