AT&T has released new updates for a bunch of Samsung Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy S7 Active are all receiving new software updates. These updates brings security enhancements to the devices.
All the updates are rolling out over-the-air and install the October Android security patch. Most importantly, the update includes the fix for the BlueBorne vulnerability. AT&T has already released a similar update for the Galaxy S8 variants.
On the Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, the update also fixes the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability. Therefore, as soon as you receive the update, we suggest you to install it right away. The update weighs around 73 MB and carries build number G920AUCS6EQJ1 on the Galaxy S6.
The Galaxy S6 Edge firmware build number is G925AUCS6EQJ2 with a size of 62 MB. The S6 Edge+ update size is about 65 MB and the firmware build is G928AUCS4EQJ1. For the Galaxy Note 5, build is N920AUCS4EQJ1 and size is about 67 MB. The update for the Galaxy S7 Active has the build number G891AUCS2BQJ4 and weighs in at 132 MB.
All of these updates are based on Android 7.0 Nougat, and no, none are getting the Android Oreo update anytime soon. Samsung is currently testing the Oreo update only for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, which should get the update in early 2018. Rest of the devices should follow after.
