How to set up a VPN on Android

It can be pretty annoying when reading an interesting article and when you try to play an embedded video, it won’t play because the content is blocked for your particular region. Things get even more frustrating when you can’t watch a certain movie on, say, Netflix for the same reason.

Well, this is where you need a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that you can disguise your location and eventually gain access to the content in question. But how do you set up a VPN service on your Android device? An easy task it is, as you are about to find out.

How to set up a VPN on Android

Setting up a VPN on an Android device is pretty straightforward. All you need is to get the app from your service provider and install it on your Android phone, key in your name, password, as well as all the necessary details as provided by your service provider, and that’s it!

But wait, not all VPN service providers have Android apps. So, what now? Your Android device has another option that you can turn to and set up a VPN and like the other method, this one is also pretty easy and straightforward, as seen below.

  1. Open Settings menu and under Wireless & Networks, tap on More.
  2. In the new window, tap on the ‘+’ icon in the top right corner (or bottom of the screen, depending on the device).
  3. Enter the required details in the new window that opens as provided by your VPN service provider.
  4. Tap on ‘Save’ and that’s it!

Once you finish the process by hitting save, you should be good to go. Easy huh!
