Android Pie stable update for Moto G6, G6 Play, and Z3 Play ready in Brazil

Towards the end of last month, Motorola started beta-testing Android 9 Pie update on the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play in Brazil. This came after the Plus variant had already received its upgrade to Pie and less than a month later, the Lenovo-owned company says it is ready to begin dishing out the stable Pie update to the duo in the South American country.

Earlier this month, the update was made available for the Moto G6 in the U.S., a move that appeared to suggest the stable update was ready to begin rolling out across the globe. And indeed, the rollout has just begun in Brazil and next in line should be Europe and Asia, with those in India expected to join the party later this month or somewhere in March 2019.

In addition to the Moto G6 and G6 Play, the Pie update is also rolling out to the Moto Z3 Play in the same region. Like the G6, the Z3 Play also saw Pie in the U.S. about a week ago, so we were pretty much expecting other regions to begin getting the update soon.

The standard Moto Z3 already made the switch to Pie last month in a move that also added support for 5G connectivity via the Motorola 5G Mod and January 2019 security patches.

Besides Pie, the update reportedly tags along a new Android security patch for December 2018, which is a shame considering the latest version available. Still, the fact that you are getting plenty of new stuff courtesy of Pie should make things better, with features like adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, redesigned notifications, updated audio controls, a partial dark theme, gestures for navigation, and more all available after the update.
