How to get Android Pie beta update for Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8 in the US [One UI]

Galaxy Note 8 One UI download

The One UI Beta update is already available in the UK for the Galaxy S8/S8+ as well as the Note 8 for users who managed to sign up for the One UI Beta programme.

Now, Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8 users in the US can also register for the update; however, the Beta update is only available for users with the unlocked variants. Hence, users with carrier branded devices would not be able to sign up for the One UI Beta as of now.

So, you need to have Samsung devices with these particular models numbers to be eligible for the update: SM-G950U1 (S8), SM-G955U1 (S8+), and SM-N950U1 (Note 8). Yes, you need a U1 model, as the U models are not eligible at the moment.

Once you’ve confirmed the eligibility of your device, simply follow the steps below to register for the One UI Beta.

How to register and download Android Pie beta OTA update

So, let’s see how to successfully register for the Android Pie beta update to force the device to download the OTA right away.

Note: This is confirmed to be working with unlocked handsets, of course, but also the T-Mobile and Sprint models, provided these carrier phones have been installed with required Android Oreo firmware of the U1 model (meaning, installing U1 firmware on U model first).

Required: A Samsung Account.

  1. Uninstall the existing Samsung+ application on your device, if any.
  2. Sign up for the beta Samsung+ app by clicking the link here.
  3. Download and install the Samsung+ beta app from the Play Store on your S8/S8+ or Note 8.
  4. Launch the beta Samsung+ app and log in with your Samsung account.
  5. You would be able to see the banner for the One UI Beta registration.
  6. Simply tap on the banner and register for the One UI beta.
  7. That’s it. You might have to wait a couple of minutes for the update notification to show up on your device or you could simply check for the update manually by heading over to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
    • If need be, restart your device and check for the update again.
