We know that Samsung Oreo update will be rolling out to various Galaxy devices led by the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. The former is already receiving the update while the latter finally has an exact release date. But what about other Samsung Galaxy devices? Read on!
According to information posted in Samsung Members app, those using the Galaxy A8, Galaxy J3 Prime as well as the Galaxy Xcover 4 will receive Android Oreo somewhere in Q3 2018 and beyond. Although there is no mention of the Galaxy A8+, we are confident the device will join the standard A8 in receiving Oreo at the same time.
Also, the list has the Galaxy J3 Prime, a phone that has other names in the U.S. For instance, folks on Verizon know it as J3 Eclipse while the same phone is known as J3 Emerge, Galaxy Express Prime 2 and Galaxy Amp Prime 2 on Sprint, AT&T and Cricket, respectively.
Just so you know, the Galaxy J3 Prime comes preinstalled with Nougat, which means it’s still entitled to one major OS upgrade. Whether the inclusion of the J3 Prime means other variants of the same phone will also receive Oreo is still unknown, but it’s very likely to be the case.
Besides the Galaxy A8, J3 Prime and Xcover 4, Android Oreo will also be rolled out to the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), Galaxy Tab Active 2 and even the Galaxy Tab A 10.1, which has so far received one OS upgrade following its debut with Marshmallow in May 2016. Like their counterparts, the Galaxy tablets will receive Oreo somewhere in Q3 or thereafter.
