The unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8 are receiving Android 9 Pie updates in the U.S. The updates arrive nearly two weeks after the first U.S. carrier variants got the nod, but the wait is finally over.
The U.S. was part of the markets that took part in Samsung Beta testing program, with the unlocked Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 among the participants. However, the three are now the last in the country to get Pie, something that has some explanation to it that is unnecessary at the moment.
If you own the S8 or S8 Plus, watch out for an update arriving as version G950U1UEU5DSC1 for the former or version G955U1UEU5DSC1 for the latter. The update weighs about 1.5GB and includes a new security patch for March 2019.
As for Note 8 users, the update carries software version N950U1UEU5DSC1 and also installs March security patches. All three phones also get the latest Samsung One UI on top of stock Android, tagging along new features and a brand new look and feel tailored to meet your needs.
These are OTA updates, meaning you’ll have to wait for days or even a week before your device gets a download notification. Don’t freak out, that’s just how things work.
