The global variant of Xiaomi Mi 8 started receiving Android 9 Pie beta a few days ago and it appears that Xiaomi is getting ready to push the same update to the Explorer Edition in the next few weeks.
Given that the Mi 8 and Mi 8 EE have basically the same hardware configuration, it doesn’t surprise us that the two are hot on each other’s heels as far as Android 9 Pie updates are concerned. Also, since the Mi 8 Pie update that rolled out a while back had MIUI 10 on top, this is the exact treat we expect the Mi 8 EE to get later this month.

Xiaomi has yet to release a stable version of Android Pie to the Mi MIX 2S despite having had access to the software for months now. However, with the public beta going live a few days ago, we expect that the Mi MIX 2S stable rollout should begin somewhere this October 2018, after which the Mi 8 and Mi 8 EE will follow suit, most probably in December 2018.
