Before entering an island, buy or grab that island’s map. The handheld map shows your position with a red marker, which helps a lot when a route cuts through caves, dark rock paths, or side trails.

Curve left, then right
Go left around the path, then angle slightly right toward the back.

Use it on enemies
Throw it on the ground to lure enemies, or coat enemies in ichor to trigger a heavy state on nearby creatures.

Travel to The Hallowed Hills
Move to the east-central side of the island using your map.
Go under the stone bridge
Pass beneath the small stone bridge, then loop back over or around the rocky bridge area.
Approach the cave mouth
Head toward the cave ahead, but do not enter it.
Take the left rock gap
Turn left into the dark gap between the rocks beside the cave.
Hug the left rocks
Stay tight to the left-hand rocks and keep following the dark path to the far back.
Collect the Slave Finder
Pick up the Slave Finder from the far back area.
Use it to reveal nearby beings
Blow or strike the Slave Finder to reveal nearby humans and Y’n-bhi.

Travel to Rio Verde
Start in Rio Verde and move toward the central section of the island.
Cross the stream
Go over the stream or river in front of you.
Angle left toward the larger river
After crossing, move left toward the wider river area.
Use the bridge landmark
Look left for the bridge that needs lowering, then shift slightly right.
Pass under the fallen tree or rock
Move under the large fallen tree or rock and enter the cave beyond it.
Push to the green-lit back section
Follow the cave all the way back until the lighting turns green.
Go down toward the fire
Descend the steps, then turn right toward the fire.
Pick up the Mask of Nyarlathotep
Collect the Mask of Nyarlathotep from the altar area near the fire.
Wear it to avoid combat
Put the mask on to temporarily disguise yourself as a Y’n-bhi so enemies ignore you.

Travel to Cliffs of Ibarra – North
Enter Cliffs of Ibarra – North and move to the more open southern section.
Head back north through the rocks
From the open area, go north into the rocky passage.
Continue straight through the dark path
Keep moving straight through the trees and rocks without taking side turns.
Follow the green fire
Move toward the green fire in the distance until you reach the central altar area.
Climb the altar steps
Go up the steps at the center.
Collect the Divining Rod of Yig
Pick up the Divining Rod of Yig from the altar.
Use the glowing crystals
Turn while holding it; the crystals glow when you face buried treasure and go dark when you face the wrong way.
