Just after the beginning chapter, you will be asked to get to the Well of Urdr and fetch some water off of it. But the task at hand isn’t as easy as it sounds as the well needs to be unsealed first to be accessed.

In this post, we’ll guide you toward solving the “Unseal The Well” puzzle inside Assassin’s Creed Valhalla so that you can move to your next quest within the game.

Where do you find the “Unseal The Well” puzzle?

Assassin

You will face the “Unseal The Well” puzzle as a part of the “Well-Traveled” chapter inside the Asgard saga of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Yes, this is the same Asgard you might have come to know in Marvel Universe, the birthplace of Thor both of which have been key names in Norse Mythology.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla explores this location that has widely been depicted in several Old Norse sagas and mythological texts. Even the name Valhalla has some relation to Asgard as it was believed to be one of the Realms of Asgard, featuring a golden hall where warriors come back to after their battles.

This quest in particular takes place in the Well of Urdr where you’re asked to go to by the Builder to fetch some water from it. The well is inside of a cave in Asgard where you will encounter beams of light, orbs, and pillars. Your objective is to unseal the well by pointing the light beam from its source onto the surface of the well using the pillars with orbs around you.

How do you get there?

When you first arrive as Eivor at Asgard following the “In Dreams” quest where you’re teleported to the Heimdall’s Tower in Asgard, you will have to reach the Great Hall and thus begins the “View Above All” chapter inside the Asgard Saga. The Great Hall is where you’ll meet Thor, Loki, and other popular Norse mythological characters.

Before you get to the Well of Urdr, you will be given the option to face and fight any of the heroes, then some Jotuntheim soldiers as well, head over to the main objective location and close Asgard’s gate. You will then be directed to go to the Well of Urdr when you speak to Loki.

You can go to the Well of Urdr using the map since it’s already marked and you will be taken to a cave where there’s a room with a single beam of teal aura light.

You will know that you have entered this cave if the “Unseal the well” task is highlighted below the “Well-Travelled” chapter at the top left corner of your screen.

How to Unseal the Well of Urdr in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

When you first arrive at the Well of Urdr, you will notice a single beam of light shooting from an orb that’s in the opposite part of the root. Your job is to make all the orbs interact with the beam of light by reflecting light from one another.

The first step is to get to the orb that’s emitting the beam of teal aura light.

Once you reach the other side of the room where this orb is, interact with it and point the light beam to a reflector just opposite where you are standing.

When you point the beam to the diamond reflector, there will now be two beams of light, both pointed at orbs near the entrance.

Note: The light from these two beams should be reflected to the orbs next to them. So you need to make sure you align the light one by one without skipping an orb in the middle.

Now, head over to the orb on the left (if looked at from the reflector’s point of view). From here, point the beam to the closest orb that’s in front of the wall.

Get to this orb and then point the beam to the sundial in the middle of the room. This sundial will be carved inside one of the stones with a circle in the middle.

Similarly, go to the right-side orb next to the entrance.

From here, point the beam to the move-able orb that’s located next to the well down below.

You will now be required to get to the move-able orb in front of the well and move it to a place where the light beam from the right-side orb (at the entrance) will bounce off its surface and reflect on to the other sundial.

You might need to move around a little bit to perform this last step but you will know when you complete this puzzle as the well will open up once you’ve made it right.

Although the puzzle is relatively simple, what proves to be a challenge is the lack of visibility. That’s because the cave is dimly lit and it makes it hard to charter a plan of action, thus requiring you to try and move spaces to get it sorted.

What happens after you have unsealed the Well of Urdr?

When all the orbs are aligned properly, the single beam will now have split into multiple beams and be reflected onto the sundials next to the well. These sundials will act as receptors and once they get the light from the orbs, the Well of Urdr will now be unsealed.

With the well now truly open, you can dive in.

When you dive onto the well, you’ll notice a fountain where you can collect water from. You’ll have to interact with this fountain to get to a cutscene.

Once the cutscene ends, dive into the well again, swim underwater to the exit gateway, and then swing back up where you’ll be greeted by Loki nearby.

The completion of this quest will take you to the next chapter inside the Asgard Saga – “Defensive Measures”.
