The packaging for the ZUK Edge, expected to launch by Q1 2017, has leaked online at Chinese social media website, Weibo. Given the packaging, we could only guess that it’s a hint that the device would launch in two colors: Black and white.
Lenovo has been totally silent so far on the ZUK Edge, but recent leak at TENAA got us indication of device’s existence and specs. The ZUK Edge should be some serious competition to the S7 Edge considering for the price bracket Lenovo has set for this phone.
Here are some ZUK Edge specs that were revealed by the TENAA leak: it’s expected to pack a 5.5 inch FHD display with 4 GB of RAM, a 13 MP back shooter and 8 MP front camera. All this is powered by a decent 3000 mAh battery and comes with built in 32GB/64GB.
The phone is expected to ship with 6.0.1 Android Marshmallow and not Nougat unfortunately. Maybe we’ll see a quick update soon in the coming months as Lenovo is working hard this time around on updates. Yesterday, the ZUK Z2 Plus Nougat firmware was leaked, giving us good clue about ZUK team working eagerly to bring on the Nougat update soon. Another Chinese company that’s getting pretty good with updates is Huawei, whose device Honor 8, Mate 8 and Honor P9 too got a taste of Nougat update recently.
A tentative launch by December end is speculated. If that doesn’t happen then we can expect it to be release by early Q1 2017.
