Where Is Measure App on iPhone?

So, you’re searching for a measuring tape to measure up an object or a piece of furniture and check whether it’ll fit perfectly with other elements of your house but you just can’t find the tape. We’ve all been there! But did you know that your iPhone has an inbuilt measuring tool that can estimate whatever you throw at it?

Yes. We’re talking about the Measure app that utilizes augmented reality (AR) and your iPhone’s main camera to calculate the dimensions of an object. In this post, we’ll help you find where the Measure app is on your iPhone, where your measurements are saved, and more.

Where can I find the Measure app?

The Measure app is one of the pre-installed apps that are available inside the more recent iPhones and like what its name reads, it can measure the dimensions of an object using augmented reality and your iPhone’s camera.

But where do you find the Measure app? Here’s how you can find it.

On iOS 14

If your iPhone runs on iOS 14, the Measure won’t necessarily be visible on your home screen. However, you can access the app from inside the App Library which you can get to by swiping to the extreme left on the home screen.

The Measure app will be available inside the ‘Utilities’ folder on the App Library screen. Simply tap on the folder and you will be able to see the app listed here.

Alternatively, you can find the Measure app on App Library by searching for it inside the search box at the top.

On iOS 13 or earlier

If you’re one of those who own an older iPhone that’s running on iOS 13 or iOS 12, then the Measure app will be available directly on your home screen. You can find the app inside the Utilities folder, which by default, will be located on the second page of your home screen.

How to get the Measure app on your iPhone

If you can’t locate the Measure app on your iPhone, chances are that you might have accidentally deleted it before, or for some reason, the app didn’t get installed when upgrading to a newer version of iOS. In such cases, you can get the Measure app by installing it from the App Store.

To do that, open the App Store on your iOS device and tap on the ‘Search’ tab in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Type “Measure” in the search bar at the top and tap the ‘Search’ button on your keyboard.

When you find the Measure app listed in the search results, tap on the ‘Get’ button or Download icon (the one with a cloud and a downward-facing arrow) to install the Measure app on your iPhone.

After the app has been installed, you can launch the app by tapping the ‘Open’ button.

Where is your measurement saved?

If you take a measurement of an object on the Measure app, the measurement will be displayed on the screen. You can save your measurements by tapping on the ‘Copy’ button on the screen.

When you copy a measurement, its value is saved on your iPhone’s clipboard. You can later access this value by opening any text field on any app and then pasting the contents of your clipboard.

The Measure app also allows users to capture a photo of the object along with its measurement. The photo that you click using the Shutter button inside the Measure app will be accessible inside the Photos app.

Why can’t I find the Measure app on my iPhone?

There are only two reasons why you might not find the Measure app on your iPhone.

  • You might have uninstalled it unknowingly: Like any other app on iOS, the Measure app can be deleted from your iPhone. If you cannot access it from your home screen or the App Library, then chances are that you might have deleted it from your iPhone before. If that’s the case, you can easily reinstall it again on your device.
  • Measure app isn’t available for your iPhone model: Apple launched the Measure app as part of the iOS 12 update for all its iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices. All Apple iPhones that released after iOS 12 have the Measure app pre-installed and even devices that later received the iOS 12 update were able to download and use the Measure app. The Measure app cannot be installed on your device if you own an iPhone that was not updated to iOS 12.

Which devices does the Measure app support?

The Measure app is supported on the following devices:

  • iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, or later
  • iPad Pro and iPad (5th generation or later)
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

That’s it. We hope you were able to find and use the Measure app on your iPhone. For more articles on iPhone, check out our dedicated iOS section here.
