The Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 may finally get a much-needed software upgrade, as it has been spotted on GFXBench running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The Smart Ultra 6 was released in June of 2015 with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Being a Vodafone exclusive, the device tags along additional offers on monthly plans and the like. Given the fact that the device rocked a near stock build of Lollipop, the Smart Ultra 6 earned its niche along with similar devices like Motorola’s Moto lineup, at that time.
Though the specsheet turns out to be pretty moderate, the Smart Ultra 6 would have gained a lot from an upgrade to Nougat. But, if you were expecting Nougat to hit the device any time soon, that seems a lot less probable now. As for the Marshmallow update, it may arrive some time around Q2 this year.

It took almost two years to get the smartphone through one update cycle and it may very well end up being the last one too, as the device has already been succeeded by the Smart Ultra 7. Perhaps the successor may get to taste Nougat soon, and maybe even Android O, if Vodafone plays its cards right.
