The Smart N8 is Vodafone’s initiative into the budget market. The smartphone is now retailing in Spain for €139, or $156. The smartphone will also be bundled with various plans and offers from Vodafone which should compensate for the low end specsheet mentioned below.
The Smart N8’s hardware is designed and manufactured by Alcatel and the specifications comprise of the quad-core Mediatek MT6737 SoC, a 5-inch HD display, 1.5GB RAM/16GB ROM and a 2400mAh battery, all of which make up a pretty decent entry level smartphone. The device also comes with a 13MP main shooter and a 5MP front facing camera.
The best part about the smartphone is that it runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, which makes it a catch. But then again, I shouldn’t be saying “catch”, as it has been about half a year since Nougat started releasing. Any manufacturer releasing their devices with Marshmallow would simply mean that they don’t value upgrade cycles.

Yesterday, Vodafone launched the Smart 8 series, which includes the N8, in Portugal. Since the Smart N8 and the rest of the gang run a pretty clean build of Android, this may be attractive to those users looking for a non-Pixel or a near-stock Android experience, not to mention that it’s pocket friendly.
