A week ago, Vodafone Australia shed some light on when Android 9 Pie updates would be released for multiple Samsung flagship devices released in 2018 and 2017. Today, the telco has more updates on the same.

As is, the Pie update status for Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note 8 has been updated to “rolling out soon” from last week’s “testing in progress.” We don’t have a specific date, but we do know “soon” can be anything from days to weeks.

If you own the Galaxy S8 or S8+, the telco says “testing [is] in progress”. Given that its only last week that the S9, S9+ and Note 8 were testing the OS, it’s likely that the Galaxy S8 Pie rollout will be ready to begin in a couple or so weeks’ time.

To recall, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ made the switch to Pie around Christmas time while the Galaxy Note 8, S8 and S8+ did so in mid-February 2019. The fact that Samsung doesn’t release software updates to everyone at ago is the reason Australians are yet to get Pie on either of these devices weeks down the line.

Also, the carrier effect is present, with Vodafone Australia having to carry out extra tests to ensure the update is fully compatible with its network and services before being released to the masses. This, of course, prolongs the release window.
