Verizon is currently seeding new security software updates for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The updates are available over-the-air and can take up to a few days to show up on your device.
There isn’t anything new with these updates, other than the inclusion of the latest December Android security patch. That’s what the changelog says on the Verizon website, and you should see the same when you get the update notification.
The new software version for the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge is the same, which is G935VVRU4BQK4. It’s still based on Android Nougat, and we aren’t exactly sure when the Oreo update will be available. A rough estimate puts the release date somewhere in Q1 2018.
Similar updates were released by AT&T recently, but they included support for a new Mobile Hotspot APN and other bug fixes. You can check out the AT&T Oreo update roadmap to see when your device will get the Oreo update.
