LG started rolling out Android Oreo to the V20 in Korea towards the end of July and was soon followed by an update to the Sprint variant. Several weeks later, the same update arrived on AT&T and today, Verizon is rolling out the Oreo update to this 2016 handset.
The V20 was the first phone to launch with Android Nougat out of the box, something that made many believe the next major OS upgrade will arrive soon after Google releases it. However, it turned out to be the exact opposite, but at least the update is finally here.

Verizon’s update has software version VS99520a and also includes a new security patch for the month of August 2018, but not the latest available. Being an OTA update, it will take a few days before all V20 units on the Big Red get the download notification, so be patient.
Speaking of which, you’ll definitely need to be even more patient before you see Android 9 Pie on the LG V20, which could arrive at about the same time in 2019.
