Verizon LG G4 OTA update rolling out with January security patch, build VS98629A

The Verizon LG G4 is receiving a software update with the latest January security patch for Android. The update comes with software version VS98629A and is currently on the roll as we speak.

The update is a minor release with only latest security patches and probably a few bug fixes too. It should be pretty small in size, and comfortable to download even via Mobile data if in case you cannot connect to a WiFi network.

Notably, Verizon also rolled out January security patch update to Samsung Galaxy S5, Note Edge and Note 4 devices earlier today.

The update to LG G4 is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (of course). Neither LG nor Verizon are going to officially release the Android 7.0 Nougat update to LG G4. However, if you’re okay running a custom ROM on your device, check our Lineage OS download page to get a build (official or unofficial) for your Verizon LG G4 VS986.
