New updates are rolling out to U.S. unlocked variants of Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The updates come with last month’s Android security patches, just in time for September 2018 security update that’s already hitting the Google Pixels and even Essential Phone.

The S8 update has software version G950U1UEU5CRH3 while the S8+ is getting an update with version G955U1UEU5CRH3. Like always, these are OTA updates, which means it may take several days before every unit receives the download notification, so be patient.

Besides installing August 2018 security patch, the update should also bring about plenty of optimizations, bug fixes and general system stability, so make sure to grab it once it arrives on your S8 or S8+ handset.

Also, Samsung is expected to roll out Android 9 Pie updates to the duo, but like the S7 with Oreo (second major OS upgrade), the S8 and S8+ may have to wait until Q2 2019 before Pie arrives.
