Samsung has been quite busy this week with rolling out new updates to several of its handsets, but this was mostly happening in markets outside the U.S. Today, though, things change as new updates are now targeting stateside users of the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Tab S2 on T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
Where both carriers are rolling out updates to the Galaxy Note 8, it’s only T-Mobile that’s rolling out updates to all mentioned devices. The updates rolling out install the May 2018 security patches to the devices, although it’s not clear as with the case of the Galaxy Tab S2.
The Galaxy Note 8 on both carries is receiving an update with build number CRE1 while the S8 twins’ version is CRE2. As for the Tab S2, the build number is BRE1. As usual, all updates are rolling out over the air, meaning you may have to wait for several days before the OTA download notification arrives.
Don’t want to wait? Try forcing the update via Settings menu.
Verizon rolled out the may security updates earlier last week. Not sure what this update is for
