Sony Xperia XZ Pro: This is the Sony flagship you want

Sony Xperia XZ Pro

A little over a week ago, Sony unveiled three smartphones in the shape of Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2. But even before this, we already knew that the Japanese tech giant is planning to release a series of high-end phones at the MWC 2018.

In fact, we’ve already had our first look at the alleged Sony Xperia XZ Premium successor‘s specs and images, but it’s the latest leaks that have clearer, albeit a little contradicting, details about this phone. Apparently, the phone, which will go by the name Sony Xperia XZ Pro or Xperia XZ2 Pro for that matter, will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch OLED screen with a 4K resolution. This is slightly different from the 5.46-inch 4K screen that had been mooted before, but it’s obvious that this is the Xperia XZ Premium successor.

Like in previous leaks, the newest and most powerful Snapdragon 845 will run the show alongside a RAM of 6GB and up to 128GB of internal storage, which should be expandable via a microSD card. Even though the dual-lens setup is still in the latest leak, the package will reportedly include 18MP+12MP sensors and not two 12MP sensors as claimed before. As for the selfie camera, expect a 13MP sensor.

Keeping the Sony Xperia XZ Pro alive will be a 3420mAh battery unit, a slight improvement over the 3230mAh unit used on the Xperia XZ Premium. Of course, the body will be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. Sony is also expected to take the bezel-less route, which should mean drastic design changes for the XZ Premium successor.

The Xperia XZ Pro will retail at a price of CNY 6,000 in China, which translates to over $900. As pointed out earlier, Sony is expected to launch the XZ Pro alongside other Xperia phones at next month’s MWC event, but it could take weeks before the phone is available globally.
