Update [November 17, 2016]: Qualcomm has now announced the Snapdragon 835 chipset, along with the Quick Charge 4.0 tech that claims of “5 minutes charging for 5 hours of usage”. The new SD835 chip will use the 10nm FinFET process, and is an upgrade over current top offering in Snapdragon 821 processor.
We’re coming to terms with Snapdragon 821 right now, with the chipset powering the coolest devices on earth right now in Google Pixel and Pixel XL, and crowd-favorite OnePlus 3T. But rumors about the Snapdragon 835 have begun circulating already, even though in the minimum of leaks we’ll ever see — especially when we’re yet to see Snapdragon 830 become official as of today.
The image today shows the mention of the Snapdragon 835 processor on the Weibo account of popular tipster with great previous record.
We expect the Snapdragon 830 to power on upcoming great devices like Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, HTC 11, LG G6, etc. but until now, not much is known about the SD830 either.
What we do know about the SD830 is that it will be based on super cool 10nm processor tech, along with Samsung’s Exynos 8895 chip.
Speaking of the latter, there have been rumors about the Exynos9 chipset too already, that could power the Galaxy S9, so the SD835 SoC does have a competition in sight, even though both of these chipsets are not to become official for long time.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Samsung’s Exynos are one of the best processor series on earth right now, with Huawei’s Kirin and MTK’s Helio lineup the only popular rivals. That could change if Xiaomi can get success with Xiaomi Meri device that is coming soon, as it is powered by the company’s own in-house processor called Pinecone.
