Looks like Qualcomm is planning on using its latest chipset, the Snapdragon 835, for new Android TV media boxes. Snapdragon chipsets have been used in several media boxes that run on Android.
The chip-maker previously used the Snapdragon 820 chipset for a reference Android TV media box. The media box was capable of running 4K content, had Ethernet connectivity, Bluetooth, and WiFi. By the end of last year, several third-party manufacturers have used the chipset in their media boxes.
The SD835 is a much more powerful, efficient, and capable chipset. We haven’t really heard anything from Qualcomm regarding this, but a new Product Kit/Platform was added to the company’s CreatePoint website.
Qualcomm could make an official announcement about this soon. However, it will be some time before SD835 based Android TV Media boxes go on sale. We’re not sure how long it will take, or what new features these set top boxes would have.

Hi Sid,
I have not seen a single Snapdragon 820/821 based TV box. You state that several manufacturers used them – Can you give any examples of these?
