Amid reports indicating that the Galaxy S8 isn’t doing as good business as expected, a new report from etnews claims that the South Korean giant has sold over 15% more Galaxy S8 units in comparison to the Galaxy S7 units it sold (in 2016) in the first half of the year.

Etnews cited Phone Arena saying (translated), “Samsung Electronics confirmed that cumulative sales of Galaxy S8, which was three months after launch, was 15% higher than Galaxy S7 in the same period.”

This is quite contrary to the earlier reports which suggested that the cumulative sales volume of the Galaxy S8 will be languid post its launch in the first half of the year.

In fact, the smartphone had surpassed all the previous records set by its predecessors and set new records.

The South Korean giant had received overwhelming pre-order requests in its home turf and had sold over 1.3 million Galaxy S8 units in Korean alone according to the recent data.

Samsung is expected to launch its next flagship handset and the successor of the ill-fated Note 7, the Galaxy Note 8 sometime in August.
