One of the most exciting gadget from Samsung, Gear VR, might soon be available on another smartphone of the company, the upcoming Galaxy S6. But for the time being, it’s cited as the very reason why the sinless users of Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge — the only devices compatible with Gear VR — haven’t received the Lollipop update yet, because it’s under review at Oculus (brains behind Gear VR) who are busy figuring their way around Lollipop’s new code.
It’s only bitter truth for users of Galaxy Note 4 that even its predecessor, Galaxy Note 3, has grabbed its share of Lollipop update. And that’s not the only Galaxy handset to be blessed with Android’s latest and greatest, the Galaxy S5, and even some Galaxy S4 (of year 2013!) sets are bragging 5.0 update from Google now, with Samsung’s new Lollipop’ed TouchWiz.
Luckily, this also means that otherwise the Gear VR compatibility, the Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 4 looks ready. Hence, we can expect it to roll out really soon.
Lollipop is available on many non-Nexus device as of today.
If you want a very budget friendly device, then pick a sub-$100 XOLO One, which runs Lollipop update now. While, ZTE Blade L3 is another budget level Lollipop device, and lastly, the Blade S6 from the same company, priced $250, gets you pretty good hardware and the Android 5.0 update pre-installed.
LG G3 and some HTC One M8 sets, and some LG G2 sets, have received the Lollipop update as well, while we have seen a video of One M7 running 5.0, too.
