Without naming Bixby directly, which we think will be the AI app — like Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri — featured on Galaxy S8, Samsung’s vice president, Rhee In-jong, has made it official that we can expect an assistant app of Samsung’s own for sure on the Galaxy S8. Rumors already had us led to Bixby, a trademark by Samsung which whose description reads same as of an AI software based on voice.

Yes, no regards for Google Assistant, obviously, but that was all but confirmed when Samsung bought the Viv labs company, developers of Siri who made another Siri-like app thereafter.

The Galaxy S8 will be Samsung’s first device to feature their AI-based voice recognition service, and Rhee In-jong even went out declaring that theirs will be pretty different than rival software like Apple’s Siri. How Samsung manages to do that is an altogether another question, one that we will have to see live on Galaxy S8.

The Galaxy S8 is schedule to release in mid-March, but could be unveiled by February 26, when the MWC starts — a platform Samsung has long been using to launch its Galaxy S sets.

Samsung’s operating profit for the 3rd quarter went south by 29.6 percent compared to year before, and that revs up the pressure on Samsung by great margin, with all hops attached to Galaxy S8 to be a blockbuster device.

And Samsung is indeed working hard on it. The leaks point to Galaxy S8 featuring the best of smartphone stuff being stuffed in mobiles right now: dual-cameras, curved display, optical fingerprint scanner, even the full-glass front, etc.
