The Verizon Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droid editions are finally launching at a press event on July 14th. The two devices offer disruptive technologies for the smartphone market and are the slimmest of all. But if you’re someone like us, it’s not just specs for you — your decision to buy a new Android device is dependent on its root-ability.
Well, unfortunately, like all Verizon devices the Moto Z and Moto Z Force will also ship with locked bootloaders. Meaning you won’t ever get root access on these devices unless something really akin to a miracle is to happen.
Verizon Droid users have for years suffered with either no root or temp root access on their devices. Matter-fact, Verizon is the most painful of all carriers in the US when it comes to letting users get system level control its devices.
There won’t ever be a way to unlock the bootloader on Verizon Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droid editions. So if you’re planning on getting either of the devices, be completely ready for spending the entire life of that device without root access.
That said, the world is full of miracles. There are many genius people involved in rooting Android devices over at xda and other Android communities. You never know if you get lucky and someone knowledgeable is able to root Verizon Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droid editions.
We’ll be sure to update this post if root is available for the Moto Z and Moto Z Force Droid editions. Stay tuned..

If you access the developer options through the settings menu, you can unlock the bootloader.
You can generate a request number for the bootloader unlock key through fastboot, but motorola’s unlock portal will just read it and say the device is ineligible for the key itself.
