How to Root Lyf Phones Without PC

Reliance Jio’s 4G enabled Lyf smartphones have been creating a buzz in the Indian markets. The devices are selling for mere INR 5,000 ($73) with 3 months of unlimited 4G data + unlimited voice calls. So much free stuff that the device’ already cheap cost is nothing to consider.

Most importantly, Lyf smartphones feature near stock Android, so they are friendly when it comes to getting root access on LYF devices. And we mean all Lyf smartphones:

• Lyf Earth
• Lyf Wind
• Lyf Water
• Lyf Flame

Generally, we recommend you to root a bootloader unlocked Android device by flashing SuperSU zip from TWRP recovery, but since Lyf phones haven’t received any TWRP recovery build yet (not even unofficial ones), only method to root LYF phones is through the Kingroot app.

How To Root Lyf phones without PC

1. Download and install the kingroot .apk file from the link above.
   └ If you get a prompt to “Allow Google to regularly check device activity for security problems..”, make sure you DECLINE it.
2. Once installed, open Kingroot app and press the “Start root” button to begin the rooting process.
3. During the process you might repeated warnings by Google to check device activity, DECLINE it like you previously did in Step 1.
4. If the process finishes successfully, then congratulations! You’re rooted.
   └ To verify root access, download the root checker app Play Store.
