If you are an Asus ZenFone 3 Laser user and residing in Canada, your safety may be at risk as the device is currently having issues calling emergency number 911 in the country. This has been reported by Asus users via online platforms.

A user of ZenFone 3 Laser reported receiving a text from his provider alerting him ‘that Asus Zenfone 3s (all variants) may not be able to connect to 911’. Notably, so far Telus and Public Mobile in Canada have alerted their users about the issue.

The alert also mentions ‘not to dial 911’ to check and confirm the issue ‘except to report an actual emergency’. However, users can contact Asus directly at the below mentioned number for more information on the issue.

Up till now, other than the alert about the issue, no further information has poured in. Asus too is yet to make an official announcement about it and roll out a fix for the problem. Meanwhile, ZenFone 3 Laser users have taken to online platforms to show their annoyance.

Last month, Asus rolled out a new software update to  ZenFone 3 Laser which raises the OS version to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The update arrives as software version 30.41.12.1. Another Asus phone which has also started soaking Android 7.1.1 Nougat update is the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom.
