While the world is waiting to be updated to Froyo, it comes as a surprise that there are Android phones, still launching with version 1.6. We are talking about the Boston from Portuguese carrier Optimus, which is in fact Gigabyte’s ‘Codfish’ Android phone. The Boston is a mid-range phone, priced at €160 (approx $201). In tandem with its price, it features a 3.2 inch ‘multitouch’ screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, trackball and proximity sensor and a 5 megapixel camera.

The Boston looks okay for anyone to join the Android revolution and experience it cheaply but out-of-date Android 1.6 is a spoils the deal.

We think Optimus would need more than that to cheer up the Portuguese from the World Cup loss to Spain. What do you think?
