Manu J, OnePlus Global Product Operations Manager, just announced on the OnePlus forum the arrival of a new OxygenOS Open Beta build for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T phones. While this is the 9th open beta for the OnePlus 6, it is the first one ever for the OnePlus 6T phone.
The beta update has the same changelog for both the phones. The security patch has been updated to the latest December level. There’s the addition of toast message, call history of unknown numbers, better spam SMS and call protection, and the ability to migrate data from iPhone termed OnePlus Switch.

Since this is a beta build, it is expectedly not going to be as smooth as a stable update. So, if you choose to download it, make sure you’re prepared to take the risks involved as you may experience a few issues here and there– and you may also notify about bugs to the OnePlus team on their bug report forums.
Also, if you choose to install this beta update you will stop receiving the stable updates sent out by OnePlus and only receive beta OTA updates. However, you may choose to go back to the official OTA stable path but that would require a full wiping of data and cache.
OnePlus recently released the Android Pie update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T via the Open Beta channel. They have already updated the OnePlus 6 to Android Pie, while the OnePlus 6T came with Android Pie pre-installed.
OnePlus is working on a 5G phone in 2019 that will reportedly cost about $200 more than its regular successor to the OnePlus 6 (OnePlus 7?).
