Android 10 update released for OnePlus 6 and 6T as Open Beta 1 build

OnePlus 6T

Earlier this month, OnePlus promised us the Android 10 update for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T handsets this month. Today, they are delivering on that promise.  If you have an unlocked, non-carrier OnePlus 6/6T with you, you can now install the Android 10 update available as Open Beta 1 on your OnePlus 6/6T.

Note that being a beta update (dubbed Open Beta), it won’t be available as an OTA if you are not on a beta update already. You have to manually install the update if you are on the stable update right now. If you wish to receive the stable update as an OTA, you will have to wait for its release which could take another 2-3 weeks.

With Open Beta 1 update based on Android 10, you get all the new features from Android 10, plus some of the additions from OnePlus to their OxygenOS 10 OS like Game Space, Smart Display, blocking spam messages by keywords, customized Full Screen gestures, and more.

Open Beta 1 download links [Android 10]

Here are the download links of the Open Beta 1 update for OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T handsets. The update will install the Android 10 OS upgrade.

Thanks for the download links, Zubin!

How to install Open Beta 1 update [Android 10]

To install, download the Full ROM update given above first. Then, copy the ROM file to the device’s internal storage (not inside any folder). You can disconnect the device from PC now.

Next, open the Settings app and go to System updates > tap the icon in the top right > select local upgrade > select the update file. The update will begin to install. When done, tap the Reboot now button to reboot to Android 10.

Rollback to Android 9 Pie

Well, OnePlus has provided the rollback builds too, so that in case you don’t wish to use Android 10 under the Open Beta channel, you can downgrade your device back to Android 9 Pie.

  • OnePlus 6
  • OnePlus 6T

October 19: Links of rollback builds have been removed, as it turns out those links were actually of the Android 10 Open Beta update.

Are you installing the Open Beta 1 Android 10 update on your OnePlus 6/6T? If you are, let us know how it treats you.

T-Mobile recently confirmed that the Android 10 update for their OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 Pro is under manufacturer development. Even though not a breaking news, a formal acknowledgment only helps us in knowing that they are actively working on the update.
