OnePlus was pretty quick to release the Android 9 Pie update for its current flagship the OnePlus 6 and everyone was thrilled!
But what about the OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 3/3T? We know that they are also slated to receive the update. However, the big question is WHEN?
Well, OnePlus’ own Pete Lau (or Liu Zuohu) shed some light on the matter via Weibo.
In a recent post, he reassures the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3 series will be getting Android Pie. However, he explains that the engineers need more time to work on the update. So don’t hold your breath on seeing the update arrive in the near future. This might take a while.
In the meantime, OnePlus is busy gearing up to unveil its next big effort, the OnePlus 6T. Obviously, the phone will ship out with Android Pie out of the box and apparently an improved OxygenOS.

OnePlus’ own Product Manager Szymon Kopec said that the new OxygenOS will be “the most distinct and intuitive version of OxygenOS yet”. It will also get a new UI overhaul along with some camera upgrades and an advanced “Do Not Disturb” mode.
If you’re curious to see all that and more, don’t forget to tune in on October 30 and watch OnePlus unveil the OnePlus 6T.
