The Chinese variants of the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T running HydrogenOS have received a new update today, bringing in much needed features and updates. The beta update has now gone live as an OTA already as software version HydrogenOS Open Beta 14 and 8 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T respectively.
These features and improvements will not remain specific to China and are soon expected to come to users in rest of the word as OxygenOS Open Beta 14 and 8 for the same devices.
Coming to what is actually packed into these updates, OnePlus has now brought the Always On Display feature to its current flagship devices. This basically ensures that your screen display information in minimal black and white colors when a notification arrives, even when the display is in turned-off state. This isn’t normally used on IPS displays but you have more freedom to do so on AMOLED displays, which is what both OnePlus 3 and 3T use, as the latter type of display consumes less battery by turning on only the pixels required to be lit up, instead of the who screen.
The changelog also indicates that Hand Wave to light up the lockscreen is coming with this beta update. Also, raising the device will automatically show you the lockscreen without having to press the unlock button. As translation is translation, we would have to wait for these builds to arrive on OxygenOS to get better idea of it all, when changelog would be available in English too.

The Open Beta 14 and 8 will also bring a new font to the devices. The update to the OS now supports sharing pictures instantly to Social Media. A few basic apps like the built-in browser, recorder, notes, etc. have been updated with the new design too. The beta update also applies the latest security patch along with necessary under-the-hood improvements to performance and system stability.
