The Nextbit Robin has a rather different take on Android than most other devices that we come across. While most devices focus on beefing up their specs and storage options, the Robin opts for a cloud-based functionality instead.
The device moves your unused apps to the cloud to save space on your device and pulls them down when needed. The phone also backs up your APK data to its cloud, but leaves your personal information on the device itself.
However, the Robin was still on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and although Nougat was available in the form of Lineage OS 14.1 various features of the device were missing on it.
But thankfully, Nextbit is now finally rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Nextbit Robin. Although the first Nougat OTA was released back in November, it was targeted at closed beta users exclusively.
The current OTA bears the build number 88 and comes with the January security patch. The update includes all Nougat features including Multi-Window support, revamped Quick Settings, miscellaneous optimizations and more.
The Nextbit Robin is a 5.2-inch phone housing Snapdragon 808 processor with 32GB of onboard storage and 3GB of RAM. The phone comes with a 13MP rear camera complemented by its 5MP front shooter. The Robin is juiced by a 2680mAH battery and is available in two variants — Mint on White and Midnight Black.
